After a successful photo shoot last week we have managed to complete 1 of the 3 campaign ads for our newest client, Experience Realty Group. Here are some behind the scenes shots and the first installment of our "It's time for a new experience" ads.
This week I wanted to focus on one of my favorite illustrators to date, Takashi Murakami. If you don't know his name you will know his work. Deemed as the Japanese Andy Warhol this soon to be pop art icon is a master at taking consumer culture and translating it into candy colored dream worlds. Some of his more recognizable works are found on Louis Vuitton handbags and featured on Kanye West's Graduation album art but his work does not stop there.
Montreal based clothing label, Rated Rookies is leading the design world in hip hop apparel. When they are not making rad t-shirts they are producing some sick home grown advertising. Here is some samples for their Spring launch.
On January 14, 2009 the 51st Annual Grammy Awards launched their ultra cool campaign, titled "Celebrate The Music That Makes Us." The message is music influences and inspires everyone, the delivery is a beautiful example of typography in motion by a Los Angeles based agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day. The campaign involves some portraits of some pretty famous faces including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Stevie Wonder and the undeniable cool Thom Yorke.
A little while ago I was contacted by a documentary film maker from the States by the name of Marc Israel. He was working on a new project titled "Snock 'N Roll: Adventures With Michael Hurley". He saw a video clip I posted on youtube of some footage I taped at a Cat Power show last summer and wanted to incorporate it into his film. The film focuses on Michael Hurley, an American Folk Singer who's songs have been covered by many artists including Cat Power, Yo La Tango, Violent Femmes, Lucinda Williams and more. The clip is ultra short found about 16 min in. Marc was super nice to talk to, sent me a copy of one of his full length films "NEARER MY GOD TO THEE: Filmmaker encounters John of God & Self" and included me in the credits. I was happy to help out.
